Major Events (Pacific Airshow Gold Coast) Regulation 2024

1Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Major Events (Pacific Airshow Gold Coast) Regulation 2024.

2Definitions

In this regulation—

crowd controller see the Security Providers Act 1993, section 5.

Pacific Airshow Gold Coast means the major event prescribed under section 3.

security officer see the Security Providers Act 1993, section 7.

3Pacific Airshow Gold Coast prescribed as major event—Act, s 12

For section 12(1) of the Act, the event known as the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast to be held in 2026 is prescribed as a major event.

4Major event organiser—Act, s 12

For section 12(2)(a) of the Act, Pacific Airshow Pty Ltd ACN 647 800 539 is prescribed as the major event organiser for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast.

5Major event areas—Act, s 12

For section 12(2)(b) of the Act, each of the areas stated in schedule 1, column 1 is prescribed as a major event area for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast.

6Major event period—Act, s 12

For section 12(2)(c) of the Act, the period prescribed as the major event period for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast is the period—

(a)starting on 14 August 2026 at 6a.m.; and

(b)ending on 16 August 2026 at 6p.m.

7Provisions of pt 5 of Act applying to Pacific Airshow Gold Coast—Act, s 12

For section 12(2)(d) of the Act, sections 31 and 36 of the Act are prescribed as provisions that apply to the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast for the major event period.

8Provisions of pt 5 of Act applying to major event areas—Act, s 12

For section 12(2)(e) of the Act, for each major event area stated in schedule 1, column 1, the provisions of the Act stated opposite in column 2 are prescribed as provisions that apply to the major event area for the period stated opposite in column 3.

9Controlled area—Act, s 12

For section 12(3)(a) of the Act, the area shown as the Surfers Paradise controlled area on the map in schedule 2, part 5 is prescribed as a controlled area for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast.

Note—

The areas shown on the maps in schedule 2, parts 1, 2 and 4 as the Surfers Paradise controlled area are included for information purposes only.

10Control period—Act, s 12

For section 12(3)(b) of the Act, the period prescribed as the control period for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast is the period—

(a)starting on 14 August 2026 at 6a.m.; and

(b)ending on 16 August 2026 at 6p.m.

11Provisions of pt 5 of Act applying to controlled area—Act, s 12

For section 12(3)(c) of the Act, sections 30 and 31A to 35 of the Act are prescribed as provisions that apply to the controlled area prescribed under section 9 for the following periods—

(a) 14 August 2026 from 6a.m. to 6p.m.;

(b)15 August 2026 from 6a.m. to 6p.m.;

(c)16 August 2026 from 6a.m. to 6p.m.

12Carrying out temporary works for Pacific Airshow Gold Coast—Act, s 16

(1)This section applies in relation to the area shown as the Surfers Paradise major event area on the map in schedule 2, part 5.

(2)For section 16(2) of the Act, the following periods are prescribed—

(a)the period starting on 2 August 2026 at 8a.m. and ending on 14 August 2026 at 6a.m.;

(b)the period starting on 16 August 2026 at 6p.m. and ending on 21 August 2026 at 6p.m.

13Official logo—Act, s 51

For section 51(1)(a) of the Act, the logo shown in schedule 3 is declared to be an official logo for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast.

14Official title—Act, s 51

For section 51(1)(b) of the Act, the title ‘Pacific Airshow Gold Coast’ is declared to be an official title for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast.

15Authorised persons—Act, s 56

For section 56(1)(d) of the Act, the other persons prescribed for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast are—

(a)a crowd controller; and

(b)a security officer.

16Limit on powers of particular authorised persons—Act, s 57

(1)For section 57(2) of the Act, this section limits the powers of particular authorised persons for the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast.

(2)An authorised person may exercise a power under section 18(5) or 25 of the Act only if the person is—

(a)a police officer; or

(b)a crowd controller; or

(c)a security officer.

(3)Also, an authorised person may exercise a power under any of the following sections of the Act only if the person is a police officer—

(a)section 30(4);

(b)section 32(5);

(c)section 33(4);

(d)section 54(2);

(e)section 63;

(f)section 65(2).
