Witness Protection Regulation 2011

1Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Witness Protection Regulation 2011.

2Commencement

This regulation commences on 1 September 2011.

3Definitions

The dictionary in the schedule defines particular words used in this regulation.

4Approved authorities

Each of the following entities is an approved authority for the Act, schedule 2, definition approved authority but only in relation to the Act, section 43—
(a)Australian Crime Commission;
(b)Corruption and Crime Commission;
(c)ICAC;
(d)Integrity Commissioner;
(e)New South Wales Crime Commission;
(f)Office of Police Integrity;
(g)Police Integrity Commission.

5Complementary witness protection laws

Each of the following is a complementary witness protection law for the Act, schedule 2, definition complementary witness protection law
(a)Witness Protection Act 1994 (Cwlth);
(b)Witness Protection Act 1995 (NSW);
(c)Witness Protection Act 1996 (SA);
(d)Witness Protection Act 2000 (Tas);
(e)Witness Protection Act 1991 (Vic);
(f)Witness Protection (Western Australia) Act 1996 (WA).

6Law enforcement agency

Each of the following entities is a law enforcement agency for the Act, schedule 2, definition law enforcement agency
(a)Australian Crime Commission;
(b)Corruption and Crime Commission;
(c)ICAC;
(d)Integrity Commissioner;
(e)New South Wales Crime Commission;
(f)Office of Police Integrity;
(g)Police Integrity Commission.

7Repeal

The Witness Protection Regulation 2001, SL No. 8 is repealed.

Schedule Dictionary

section 3

Australian Crime Commission means the Australian Crime Commission under the Australian Crime Commission Act 2002 (Cwlth).
Corruption and Crime Commission means the Corruption and Crime Commission under the Corruption and Crime Commission Act 2003 (WA).
ICAC means the Independent Commission Against Corruption under the Independent Commission Against Corruption Act 1988 (NSW).
Integrity Commissioner means the Integrity Commissioner under the Law Enforcement Integrity Commissioner Act 2006 (Cwlth).
New South Wales Crime Commission means the New South Wales Crime Commission under the New South Wales Crime Commission Act 1985 (NSW).
Office of Police Integrity means the Office of Police Integrity under the Police Integrity Act 2008 (Vic).
Police Integrity Commission means the Police Integrity Commission under the Police Integrity Commission Act 1996 (NSW).
