satisfy the general safetyobligations under part 43of the Act for commercial ships
andfishing ships.(2)Theequipmentmentionedinsection6isinadditiontothesafety equipment
required by part 2 and part 5, division 84ofthe regulation.6Miscellaneous equipment(1)Acommercialshiporfishingshipshouldbeequippedinaccordance with the USL code, sections 12,
13 and 18.5(2)Alternatively,acommercialshiporfishingshipshouldbeequipped with equipment to—(a)safely navigate the ship in the
intended operational areain all expected weather conditions for
the area; andExamples of equipment for paragraph
(a)—charts, radar, compasses(b)safely secure the ship in the intended
operational area inall expected weather conditions for the area
should it bedisabled and afloat; and(c)enable the ship to communicate with another
ship, or ashore-basedradiostation,intheintendedoperationalarea in all
expected weather conditions for the area; and(d)provideasafeenvironment,firstaidandreasonablecomfort to anyone on board the ship;
