the Act.(2)Theequipmentmentionedinsection6isinadditiontothesafetyequipment required by part 2 and part 5,
division 65of the regulation.6Miscellaneous equipment(1)A
commercial or fishing ship should be equipped in accordance
withsections 12, 13 and 186of
the Code.(2)Alternatively, a commercial or fishing
ship should be equipped withequipment
to—(a)safelynavigatetheshipintheintendedoperationalareainallexpected weather
conditions for the area; andExample of
paragraph (a)—Charts, radar, compasses.(b)safelysecuretheshipintheintendedoperationalareainallexpectedweatherconditionsfortheareashoulditbedisabledand afloat;

anyone safe unhindered access to and from the ship; andExample of paragraph (e)—A
sturdy passenger gangway with handrails.(f)safelysecuretheshipintheintendedoperationalareainallexpected weather
conditions for the area to enable—(i)anyone to embark or disembark; or(ii)cargo to be transferred to or from the
ship; and(g)indicate weather changes within the
ship’s operational area.(3)The equipment
mentioned in this section should be in good workingorder.7ExpiryThis standard
expires 7 years after its commencement.
