This regulation may be cited as the Major Events (AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026) Regulation 2026.
In this regulation—AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 means the major event prescribed under section 3.crowd controller see the Security Providers Act 1993, section 5.security officer see the Security Providers Act 1993, section 7.
3AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 prescribed as major event—Act, s 12
For section 12(1) of the Act, the event known as the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 is prescribed as a major event.
4Major event organiser—Act, s 12
For section 12(2)(a) of the Act, Local Organising Committee AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Pty Ltd ACN 681 496 006 is prescribed as the major event organiser for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
For section 12(2)(b) of the Act, the area shown on the map in schedule 1 as the major event area is prescribed as the major event area for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
For section 12(2)(c) of the Act, the period prescribed as the major event period for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 is the period—(a)starting on 1 March 2026 at the beginning of the day; and(b)ending on 21 March 2026 at the end of the day.
7Application of Act provisions to AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026—Act, s 12
For section 12(2)(d)(i) of the Act, the following provisions of the Act are prescribed as provisions that apply to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 for the major event period—(a)section 31, other than subsection (1)(a);(b)section 36.
8Application of Act provisions to major event area—Act, s 12
For section 12(2)(d)(ii) of the Act, the following provisions of the Act are prescribed as provisions that apply to the major event area for the control period—(a)section 18;(b)section 20, other than subsection (6);(c)section 22;(d)section 25;(e)section 26, other than subsections (1)(d), (4), (5) and (7);(f)section 30;(g)section 31, other than subsection (1)(b);(h)sections 32 and 33;(i)section 35.
For section 12(3)(a) of the Act, the area shown on the map in schedule 1 as the controlled area is prescribed as the controlled area for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
For section 12(3)(b) of the Act, the following periods are prescribed as the control period for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026—(a)from 3.30p.m. to 10.30p.m. on 2 March 2026;(b)from 10a.m. to 10.30p.m. on 5 March 2026;(c)from 3.30p.m. to 10.30p.m. on 8 March 2026;(d)from 10a.m. to 10.30p.m. on 19 March 2026.
11Application of Act provisions to controlled area—Act, s 12
For section 12(3)(c) of the Act, the following provisions of the Act are prescribed as provisions that apply to the controlled area for the control period—(a)section 30;(b)section 31, other than subsection (1)(b);(c)sections 32 and 33;(d)section 35.
For section 51(1)(a) of the Act, each logo shown in schedule 2 is declared to be an official logo for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
For section 51(1)(b) of the Act, the title ‘AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026’ is declared to be an official title for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
14Authorised persons—Act, s 56
For section 56(1)(d) of the Act, the other persons prescribed for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 are—(a)a crowd controller; and(b)a security officer.
15Limit on powers of particular authorised persons—Act, s 57
(1)For section 57(2) of the Act, this section limits the powers of particular authorised persons for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.(2)An authorised person may exercise a power under section 18(5) or 25 of the Act only if the person is—(a)a police officer; or(b)a crowd controller; or(c)a security officer.(3)Also, an authorised person may exercise a power under any of the following provisions of the Act only if the person is a police officer—(a)section 30(4);(b)section 32(5);(c)section 33(4);(d)section 54(2);(e)section 63(2).
This regulation expires on 22 March 2026.
