Relationships Regulation 2012

Part 1 Preliminary

1Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Relationships Regulation 2012 .

2Commencement

This regulation commences on 23 February 2012.

Part 2 General

3Documents to prove identity etc.—Act, ss 7 and 15

(1)For the Act, sections 7 and 15, the following documents are prescribed—
(a)for sections 7 (2) (b) and 15 (2) (c)—
(i)1 document from each of the following—
(A)a document that shows photographic identification of the person and states the person’s date of birth;
(B)a document verifying the person’s identity; or
(ii)2 documents mentioned in subparagraph (i)(B), at least one of which must state the person’s date of birth;
(b)for sections 7 (2) (c) and 15 (2) (c)—a document showing where the person lives.

Examples for subsection (1) (a) (i) (A)—

a driver licence
a passport
an adult proof of age card

Examples for subsection (1) (a) (i) (B)—

a credit card
a Medicare card
a birth certificate

Examples for subsection (1) (b)—

a telephone, gas or electricity account statement not more than 6 months old showing where the person lives
a statement not more than 6 months old issued by a financial institution showing where the person lives
(2)Each document must be either an original document or a certified copy of an original document.

4Registered relationships under corresponding laws—Act, s 33

(1)For the Act, section 33 (2), definition corresponding law, the following laws are prescribed—
(a) Relationships Register Act 2010 (NSW);
(b) Relationships Act 2008 (Vic);
(c) Relationships Act 2003 (Tas);
(d) Civil Partnerships Act 2008 (ACT).
(2)For the Act, section 33 (1), each of the following relationships is taken to be registered as a registered relationship under the Act—
(a)a registered relationship under the Relationships Register Act 2010 (NSW);
(b)a registered domestic relationship under the Relationships Act 2008 (Vic);
(c)a significant relationship for which a deed of relationship is registered under the Relationships Act 2003 (Tas);
(d)a relationship registered as a civil partnership under the Civil Partnerships Act 2008 (ACT).

5Fee for application for termination—Act, s 15

For the Act, section 15 (2) (b), the fee prescribed is $34.35.
