Major Events (Motor Racing Events) (Townsville 500) Amendment Regulation 2026

1Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Major Events (Motor Racing Events) (Townsville 500) Amendment Regulation 2026.

2Regulation amended

This regulation amends the Major Events (Motor Racing Events) Regulation 2015.

3Amendment of s 3 (Townsville 500 is a major event—Act, s 12)

Section 3, ‘2025’—
omit, insert—

4Amendment of s 6 (Major event period for Townsville 500—Act, s 12)

Section 6, from ‘the period’—
omit, insert—

the period—

(a)starting on 9 July 2026 at midday; and

(b)ending on 13 July 2026 at midday.

5Insertion of new ss 6A and 6B

After section 6—
insert—

6AProvisions of pt 5 of Act applying to Townsville 500—Act, s 12

For section 12(2)(d) of the Act, the following provisions of the Act are prescribed as provisions that apply to the Townsville 500 for the major event period—

(a)section 31;

(b)section 36.

6BProvisions of pt 5 of Act applying to major event area for Townsville 500—Act, s 12

For section 12(2)(e) of the Act, the following provisions of the Act are prescribed as provisions that apply to the major event area for the Townsville 500 for the major event period—

(a)section 18, other than subsections (5) and (8);

(b)sections 19 to 28;

(c)section 31A;

(d)section 40.

6Amendment of s 7 (Carrying out temporary works for Townsville 500—Act, s 16)

Section 7(a) and (b)—
omit, insert—

(a)the period starting on 15 June 2026 at the beginning of the day and ending on 9 July 2026 at midday;

(b)the period starting on 13 July 2026 at midday and ending on 1 August 2026 at the end of the day.

7Insertion of new s 7A

For section 51(1)(a) of the Act, each logo shown in schedule 1A is declared to be an official logo for the Townsville 500.
