1Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Biosecurity (Fees for Registered Biosecurity Entities) Amendment Regulation 2019.

2Commencement

Section 6(2) commences on 2 July 2020.

3Regulation amended

This regulation amends the Biosecurity Regulation 2016.

4Amendment of s 127 (Fees)

Section 127—
insert—
(2)However, a registered biosecurity entity is exempt from paying a fee under section 156(2)(a) of the Act for renewal of the entity’s registration as a registered biosecurity entity if—
(a)the renewal happens on a day (the renewal day) during the period starting on 1 July 2019 and ending on 30 June 2020; and
(b)on 1 March 2019 and the renewal day, a designated place for the entity is situated wholly or partly in 1 of the following local government areas—
(i)Burke;
(ii)Carpentaria;
(iii)Cloncurry;
(iv)Flinders;
(v)McKinlay;
(vi)Richmond;
(vii)Winton.
(3)This subsection and subsection (2) expire on 1 July 2020.

5Amendment of s 128 (Waiver of particular fees)

(1)Section 128—
insert—
(1A)Also, the chief executive may waive a fee under section 156(2)(a) of the Act if the chief executive is satisfied the renewal of the registration is not required for the purpose of carrying on a business of primary production.
(2)Section 128(1A) and (2)—
renumber as section 128(2) and (3).

6Amendment of sch 10 (Fees)
