Project BoardNotification(No.1)2006isnamedtheCleanCoalTechnology Project Board.3Functions of project board(1)The project board has the following
functions—(a)toundertakeanyfunctionsdelegatedtoitbythecoordinator-general;(b)to perform any other functions
delegated to it under theAct or another Act in relation to the
development or useof clean coal technology;(c)to prepare a business plan and a
management strategyfor the development or use of clean coal
technology;(d)tofacilitatethedevelopmentoruseofcleancoaltechnology;(e)toconstructfacilitiesforthedevelopmentoruseofclean coal
technology, either by it or a third party;

development or useofcleancoaltechnology,includingthesourcingofavailable funding from the private and
public sectors;(g)to develop and implement a marketing
plan to promotethe development or use of clean coal
technology, and toattractinvestmentinthedevelopmentoruseofcleancoal
technology;(h)to undertake industry and community
liaison in relationto the development or use of clean coal
technology;(i)to coordinate with other persons or
agencies to achievethe development or use of clean coal
technology;(j)to advise the Minister about—(i)nationalandinternationalresearchanddevelopment programs for the
development or useof clean coal technology, if asked by the
Ministeror on its own initiative; or(ii)other matters relating to the
development or use ofclean coal technology, if asked by the
Minister oron its own initiative;(k)toimplement,manageandmaintainthemanagementstrategy
mentioned in paragraph (c).(2)In subsection
(1)—developmentoruse,ofcleancoaltechnology,includestheinvestigation,research,promotion,experimentationandexploitation of clean coal technology in
relation to electricitygeneration and any other commercial
use of coal either by theproject board or a third party.4Powers of project boardThe
project board has the following powers—(a)to
acquire, hold, deal with or dispose of property;(b)tospendamountsappliedtoitforitsfunctions,including,forexample,oncapitalworksandimprovements to, or for the
maintenance of—

other propertyconsents and the spending is for the
developmentor use of clean coal technology;(c)toborrowmoney,ifauthorisedundertheStatutoryBodies Financial
Arrangements Act 1982;(d)to
enter into contracts;(e)to appoint agents
and attorneys;(f)to charge for services and facilities
it provides;(g)to join and take part in industry
associations;(h)to do anything else necessary or
convenient to be donein relation to its
functions.
