s1 3 Nature Conservation ( Duck and Quail Harvest Period) Notice 2004 s4 NATURE CONSERVATION (DUCK AND QUAIL HARVEST PERIOD) NOTICE 2004 [reprinted as in force on 7 May 2004] PART 1—PRELIMINARY 1 Short title This regulation may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail Harvest Period) Notice 2004 . 2 Definitions In this notice— “duck” see the Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail) Conservation Plan 1995 , section 2(1). “quail” see the Nature Conservation (Duck and Quail) Conservation Plan 1995 , section 2(1). PART 2—HARVEST PERIOD FOR DUCKS 3 Harvest period for ducks—central and northern regions A harvest period for ducks for the areas of the local governments stated in schedule 1, part 1, starts on 26 June 2004 and ends on 19 September 2004 . 4 Harvest period for ducks—southern region A harvest period for ducks for the areas of the local governments stated in schedule 1, part 2, starts on 29 May 2004 and ends on 22 August 2004.

s5 4 Nature Conservation ( Duck and Quail Harvest Period) Notice 2004 s6 5 Conditions on taking or possessing ducks (1) A person must not— (a) take a duck if— (i) the duck is not in flight; or (ii) the person is in a moving boat; or (b) take more than 12 ducks in a period of 24 hours; or (c) possess at a place, other than the person’s usual place of residence, more than 30 ducks. (2) Also, a person must not take a duck by using a shot other than an approved non-toxic shot. 1 (3) In this section— “approved non-toxic shot” means any of the following— (a) a bismuth-tin shot; (b) a steel shot; (c) a tungsten-iron-nickel-tin shot; (d) a tungsten-iron shot; (e) a tungsten-matrix shot; (f) a tungsten-nickel-iron shot; (g) a tungsten-polymer shot. PART 3—HARVEST PERIOD FOR QUAILS 6 Harvest period for quails A harvest period for quails for the areas of the local governments stated in schedule 2 starts on 8 May 2004 and ends on 1 August 2004. 1 See also the Nature Conservation ( Duck and Quail) Conservation Plan 1995 , section 7 (Way duck or quail must be harvested).

s7 5 Nature Conservation ( Duck and Quail Harvest Period) Notice 2004 s8 7 Conditions on taking or possessing quails A person must not— (a) take more than 25 quails in a period of 24 hours; or (b) possess at a place, other than the person’s usual place of residence, more than 60 quails. 2 PART 4—EXPIRY OF NOTICE 8 Expiry This notice expires on 20 September 2004. 2 See also the Nature Conservation ( Duck and Quail) Conservation Plan 1995 , section 7 (Way duck or quail must be harvested).
