s1 2 s5 Nature Conservation (Protected Plants Harvest Period) Notice 2002 NATURE CONSERVATION (PROTECTED PLANTS HARVEST PERIOD) NOTICE 2002 [reprinted as in force on 24 April 2002] 1 Short title This notice may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Protected Plants Harvest Period) Notice 2002 . 2 Commencement This notice is taken to have commenced on 1 April 2002. 3 Definitions In this notice— “bioprospecting activity” see the Nature Conservation (Protected Plants) Conservation Plan 2000 , schedule 3. “protected plant” see the Nature Conservation (Protected Plants) Conservation Plan 2000 , schedule 3. “salvage” see the Nature Conservation (Protected Plants) Conservation Plan 2000 , schedule 3. “stock plant” see the Nature Conservation Regulation 1994 , schedule 14. 4 Harvest period for protected plants A harvest period for all protected plants starts on 1 April 2002 and ends on 31 March 2003. 5 Conditions on taking particular whole protected plants (1) This section applies to protected plants of the following genera— (a) Xanthorrhoea ; (b) Cycas ;

(2) The maximum number of whole protected plants that may be taken under a commercial wildlife harvesting licence is— (a) for plants of the genus Xanthorrhoea —18 200; or (b) for plants of the genus Cycas —90; or (c) for plants of the genus Lepidozamia —150; or (d) for plants of the genus Macrozamia —1 680. (3) For subsection (2), the number of plants taken under a commercial wildlife harvesting licence does not include a plant that is taken— (a) as a stock plant; or (b) under salvage; or (c) for a bioprospecting activity. 6 Repeal The Nature Conservation (Protected Plants Harvest Period) Notice 2001 is repealed. 7 Expiry This notice expires on 1 April 2003.
