1—PRELIMINARY˙Short title1.ThisnoticemaybecitedastheStock(PreventionofNewcastleDisease) Notice
2000.˙Dictionary2.The dictionary in the schedule defines
particular words used in thisnotice.˙Object of notice3.The
object of this notice is to prevent the introduction of
Newcastledisease into the State.

ONINTRODUCTION OF POULTRY AND OTHERMATTER†Division 1—Prohibitions˙Poultry, poultry products and other matter
from quarantined poultryand vaccination zones4.A person must not introduce—(a)infected poultry; or(b)quarantined poultry; or(c)carcasses of quarantined poultry;
or(d)broilersorendoflaybreedersfromavaccinationzoneforprocessing for human consumption;
or(e)carcasses of poultry from a
vaccination zone for other than humanconsumption;
or(f)poultry products obtained from
quarantined poultry; or(g)poultry waste
from quarantined poultry or poultry in a vaccinationzone; or(h)litter obtained from keeping quarantined
poultry or poultry in avaccination zone.†Division 2—Restrictions˙Starter pullets and replacement
breeders5.A person may introduce starter pullets
or replacement breeders fromNew South Wales
only if the pullets or breeders—(a)are
not infected poultry or quarantined poultry; and(b)are accompanied by—

and(ii)a clearance
certificate.˙Broilers and end of lay breeders6.ApersonmayintroducebroilersorendoflaybreedersfromNewSouth Wales for processing for human
consumption only if the broilers orend of lay
breeders—(a)arenotinfectedpoultry,quarantinedpoultryorpoultryfromavaccination zone; and(b)are accompanied by an inspector’s
written approval.˙Day old chicks7.A
person may introduce day old chicks from New South Wales
onlyif—(a)the chicks are
not infected poultry or quarantined poultry; and(b)the eggs from which the chicks hatched
were, before hatching,treated in a way approved by the chief
inspector.˙Other poultry8.(1)This
section applies to poultry(“other poultry”)other than
starterpullets,replacementbreeders,broilers,endoflaybreedersanddayoldchicks.(2)A
person may introduce other poultry from New South Wales only
ifthe poultry—(a)are
not infected poultry or quarantined poultry; and(b)are accompanied by an inspector’s
written approval.˙Poultry carcasses9.A
person may introduce poultry carcasses, other than carcasses
forhuman consumption, from New South Wales only
if the carcasses—

and(b)are accompanied by the chief
inspector’s written approval.˙Poultry eggs and egg products10.A person may introduce—(a)fertilepoultryeggsorpoultryeggproductsfromNewSouthWales only if
the eggs or egg products—(i)are obtained
from other than infected poultry or quarantinedpoultry;
and(ii)have been
treated in a way approved by the chief inspector;and(iii)for fertile
poultry eggs—are packed in new packing material;or(b)eggsforhumanconsumptionobtainedfrompoultryinavaccination zone
only if the eggs—(i)have been treated in a way approved by
the chief inspector;and(ii)are
free from any visible faecal contamination; and(iii)are
packed in new packing material.˙Poultry waste and litter11.A
person may introduce poultry waste or litter obtained from
keepingpoultry only if the waste or litter—(a)is from other than infected poultry,
quarantined poultry or poultryfrom a
vaccination zone; and(b)is accompanied
by the chief inspector’s written approval.

Notice2000S¡CHEDULE†DICTIONARYsection 2“broilers”means poultry
reared for human consumption.“clearancecertificate”, for a starter
pullet or replacement breeder, means acertificate
issued by a veterinary surgeon stating that the starter pullet
orreplacement breeder—(a)has
been tested for Newcastle disease in a way approved by thechief inspector; and(b)is
not infected with the disease; and(c)if
the starter pullet or replacement breeder is from a
vaccinationzone–has been vaccinated against the
disease.“day old chicks”means poultry
that are no more than 3 days old.“end of lay
breeders”means female poultry that have stopped
laying eggs.“infected poultry”means poultry
infected with Newcastle disease.“introduce”means to introduce, or cause to introduce,
into the State.“other poultry”see section
8.“poultry egg products”includes egg
pulp and egg powder.“poultry products”includes poultry
eggs and poultry egg products.“quarantined
poultry”means poultry at premises or a place the
subject ofaquarantineorderundertheExoticDiseasesofAnimalsAct1991(NSW), section
35.1“replacement breeders”means poultry used, or intended to be used,
forbreeding poultry.1Exotic Diseases of Animals Act 1991(NSW), section 35 (Quarantine of places

within 3 km of premises or a place thesubject of a
quarantine order under theExotic Diseases of Animals Act1991(NSW), section
35.
