s1 5 s2 Local Government (Implementation of Reviewable Local Government Matters) Regulation 1999 LOCAL GOVERNMENT (IMPLEMENTATION OF REVIEWABLE LOCAL GOVERNMENT MATTERS) REGULATION 1999 [as amended by all amendments that commenced on or before 11 February 2000] † PART 1—PRELIMINARY ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Local Government (Implementation of Reviewable Local Government Matters) Regulation 1999 . ˙ Purposes 2.(1) The purposes of this regulation are— (a) to implement reviewable local government matters recommended in local government electoral and boundaries review commission reports; 1 and (b) to facilitate the implementation of the reviewable local government matters. (2) This regulation implements reviewable local government matters involving, for each local government mentioned in this regulation, 1 or more of the following— (a) divisional arrangements; 1 Each report identified in this regulation may be inspected at the office of the Department of Communication and Information, Local Government, Planning and Sport at 111 George Street, Brisbane and may also be inspected at the commissioner’s office at 160 Mary Street, Brisbane.

s3 6 s4 Local Government (Implementation of Reviewable Local Government Matters) Regulation 1999 (b) composition; (c) assignment of councillors to divisions. ˙ When implementation takes effect 3.(1) Each reviewable local government matter mentioned in part 2 for a local government, or for the local government area of a local government, takes effect— (a) for the purposes of the 2000 triennial elections for the mayor and councillors of the local government—on the commencing day; and (b) for any other purpose—on the concluding day for the local government. (2) In this section— “commencing day” , for a reviewable local government matter for a local government or the local government area of a local government, means the day on which the provision relating to the local government or area commences. “concluding day” , for a local government, means the conclusion of the 2000 triennial elections for the mayor and councillors of the local government. ˙ References to maps 4. s 5 7 s 5A Local Government (Implementation of Reviewable Local Government Matters) Regulation 1999 † PART 2—IMPLEMENTATION OF REVIEWABLE LOCAL GOVERNMENT MATTERS † Division 1—City of Brisbane ˙ City of Brisbane 5.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report (the “report” ) of June 1999 called ‘1999 Redivision of Electoral Wards within the City of Brisbane, Final Determination’ and tabled in the Legislative Assembly on 22 July 1999. (2) The local government area of the City of Brisbane is redivided into the 26 electoral wards named in the schedule, column 1. (3) The boundaries of an electoral ward are shown on the map in chapter 7 of the report mentioned in the schedule, column 2 opposite the electoral ward’s name. (4) The metes and bounds description of an electoral ward is in chapter 6, pages D1 to D6 of the report. ˙ Aramac shire 5A.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of January 2000 called ‘Review of Composition Aramac Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The local government for the Aramac shire consists of a mayor and 7 other councillors. (3) The number of councillors assigned to each division is as follows— (a) division 1—3; (b) divisions 2 and 3—2.

(2) The Banana shire is divided into 2 divisions shown on map number LGB 8 edition 3. (3) The number of councillors assigned to each division are as follows— (a) division 1—5; (b) division 2—7. ˙ Bauhinia shire 7.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Composition and Divisional Boundaries Bauhinia Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The divisions of the Bauhinia shire are abolished. (3) The area of the undivided shire is shown on map number LGB 11 edition 3. (4) The local government for the shire consists of a mayor and 8 other councillors. ˙ Beaudesert shire 8.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Beaudesert Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The Beaudesert shire is divided into 8 divisions shown on map

(2) The local government for the Belyando shire consists of a mayor and 10 other councillors. (3) The number of councillors assigned to each division are as follows— (a) division 1—4; (b) division 2—6. ˙ Boonah shire 10.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Boonah Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The Boonah shire, including area E on map number LGB 17 edition 3, is divided into 3 divisions shown on map number LGB 17 edition 4. (3) Two councillors are assigned to each division. ˙ Bowen shire 11.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Bowen Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The Bowen shire is divided into 3 divisions shown on map

(2) The city of Cairns is divided into 12 divisions shown on map number LGB 28 edition 2. (3) One councillor is assigned to each division. ˙ Carpentaria shire 16.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Carpentaria Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The Carpentaria shire is divided into 3 divisions shown on map number LGB 33 edition 2. (3) The number of councillors assigned to each division are as follows— (a) division 1—5; (b) division 2—1; (c) division 3—2. ˙ Cooloola shire 17.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional

(2) The Crows Nest shire is divided into 2 divisions shown on map number LGB 40 edition 3. (3) Four councillors are assigned to each division. ˙ Dalrymple shire 19.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Dalrymple Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The Dalrymple shire is divided into 4 divisions shown on map number LGB 43 edition 4. (3) The number of councillors assigned to each division are as follows— (a) division 1—4; (b) division 2—2; (c) divisions 3 and 4—1.

(2) The local government for the Duaringa shire consists of a mayor and 10 other councillors. (3) The number of councillors assigned to each division are as follows— (a) division 1—3; (b) division 2—7. ˙ Gold Coast city 21.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Gold Coast City Council, Final Determination’. (2) The city of Gold Coast is divided into 14 divisions shown on map number LGB 58 edition 5. (3) One councillor is assigned to each division. ˙ Hervey Bay city 22.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Hervey Bay City Council, Final Determination’. (2) The city of Hervey Bay is divided into 8 divisions shown on map number LGB 62 edition 3. (3) One councillor is assigned to each division.

(2) The city of Ipswich, excluding areas E and F shown on map number LGB 66 edition 4, is divided into 10 divisions shown on map number LGB 66 edition 5. (3) The local government for the city consists of a mayor and 10 other councillors. (4) One councillor is assigned to each division. ˙ Johnstone shire 24.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Johnstone Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The Johnstone shire is divided into 6 divisions shown on map number LGB 70 edition 2. (3) The number of councillors assigned to each division are as follows— (a) division 1—3; (b) divisions 2 to 6—1. ˙ Kolan shire 25.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Composition Kolan Shire Council, Final Determination’. (2) The local government for the Kolan shire consists of a mayor and 8 other councillors.

(2) The local government for the Livingstone shire consists of a mayor and 8 other councillors. ˙ Logan city 27.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Logan City Council, Final Determination’. (2) The city of Logan is divided into 10 divisions shown on map number LGB 78 edition 8. (3) One councillor is assigned to each division. ˙ Mackay city 28.(1) This section implements the reviewable local government matters recommended in the local government electoral and boundaries review commission report of September 1999 called ‘Review of Divisional Boundaries Mackay City Council, Final Determination’. (2) The city of Mackay is divided into 9 divisions shown on map number LGB 80 edition 4.
