s1 3 s4 Workplace Health and Safety (Industry Codes of Practice) Notice 1999 Workplace Health and Safety (Industry Codes of Practice) Notice 1999 [as amended by all amendments that commenced on or before 10 September 2004] 1 Short title This notice may be cited as the Workplace Health and Safety (Industry Codes of Practice) Notice 1999 . 2 Commencement This notice commences on 1 July 1999. 3 Making industry codes of practice The documents mentioned in schedule 1 have been made as industry codes of practice. 1 4 Amended industry codes of practice The industry codes of practice mentioned in schedule 2 have been amended 2 in the way described in the schedule. 3 1 The industry codes of practice may be purchased from Goprint, 371 Vulture Street, Woolloongabba, 4102. 2 The amended industry codes of practice are available on the department’s website at <www.whs.qld.gov.au> or may be purchased from Goprint, 371 Vulture Street, Woolloongabba, 4102. 3 Amendments mentioned in schedule 2, other than the amendments of the Compressed Air Recreational Diving and Recreational Snorkelling Industry Code of Practice 2000, were previously notified in the Workplace Health and Safety (Industry Codes of Practice) Amendment Notice (No. 1) 2002 (2002 SL No. 9).

5 Workplace Health and Safety (Industry Codes of Practice) Notice 1999 Schedule 2 Amended industry codes of practice section 4 The Compressed Air Recreational Diving and Recreational Snorkelling Industry Code of Practice 2000 has been amended, including by clarifying the type of emergency oxygen administering system to be used in an emergency. The amendment commences on 20 March 2002. The Compressed Air Recreational Diving and Recreational Snorkelling Industry Code of Practice 2000 has been further amended, including by inserting advice to be given about the risks of hypoxic blackout for persons engaging in breath hold diving. The amendment commences on 24 February 2003. The Compressed Air Recreational Diving and Recreational Snorkelling Industry Code of Practice 2000 has been further amended, including by inserting advice to be given about— (a) recreational snorkelling being a strenuous activity, even in calm conditions; and (b) recommending that older persons— (i) snorkel in buddy pairs and in an area that allows the lookout or snorkelling supervisor to offer close supervision; and (ii) wear a flotation device that supports the wearer in a relaxed state. The amendment commences on 1 April 2004. The Forest Harvesting Industry Code of Practice 2000 has been amended, including by replacing references to AS 1269 - Occupational Noise Management with references to AS/NZS 1269 - Occupational Noise Management. The amendment commences on 1 February 2003.
