titleThis regulation may be cited as theGovernmentOwnedCorporations(TAB
Corporatisation) Regulation 1999.2CommencementThisregulationcommencesonthedaytheRacingLegislationAmendment Act
1998, section 36 commences.3PurposeThe purpose of
this regulation is—(a)to change the name of the Totalisator
Board; and(b)to declare that TAB is a GOC (a
statutory GOC); and(c)to provide for the functions of TAB
(as a statutory GOC); and(d)tonominateTABasacandidateGOCthatistobecomeacompany GOC; and(e)to
declare that TAB is a GOC (a company GOC).4DefinitionsIn this
regulation—“TAB”means TAB Queensland.“TotalisatorBoard”meanstheTotalisatorAdministrationBoardofQueensland.

Queensland.6Share capitalOnthecommencementofthissection,TABistakentohaveasharecapital of $1 000 000 000 made up of 4 voting
(A class) shares of $1 eachand 999 999 996 non-voting (B class)
shares of $1 each.PART 3—TAB BECOMES A STATUTORY GOC7Declaration of TAB as a GOC(1)Subsection (2) takes effect as soon as
TAB has applied the part of itssharecapitalthatitsresponsibleMinistersdirectinpayingup,infull,shares in
itself.(2)TAB is a GOC.PART 4—FUNCTIONS
OF TAB8When part takes effectThis
part takes effect when TAB becomes a GOC under section 7(2).9TAB’s functions(1)TAB’s
primary function is to conduct gambling activities (whether
inQueensland or elsewhere).(2)TABalsohasthefunctionofcarryingonanyactivityrelatingorhelpful to its primary
function.

to TAB when TAB becomes acompany GOC.(4)In
this section—“gamblingactivities”includeactivitiesauthorisedorpermittedtobecarried on under—(a)anoperator’slicenceunderpart3AoftheGamingMachineAct
1991; or(b)an interactive
gambling licence under theInteractive Gambling(Player Protection) Act 1998;
or(c)a keno licence under theKeno
Act 1996; or(d)a race or sports
wagering licence under theWagering Act 1998.PART
5—NOMINATION OF TAB AS CANDIDATE GOCTHAT IS TO
BECOME A COMPANY GOC10Nomination of TAB(1)Subsection (2) takes effect immediately
after TAB becomes a GOCunder part 3.(2)TABisnominatedtobeacandidateGOCthatistobecomeacompany GOC.PART 6—TAB
BECOMES A COMPANY GOC11Declaration of
TAB as a GOC(1)Subsection (2) takes effect as soon as
both of the following apply—(a)TAB
is a candidate GOC that is to become a company GOC;(b)TABisapubliccompany,andacompanylimitedbyshares,within the
meaning of the Corporations Law.
