s1 3 s4 Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) Notice 1998 NATURE CONSERVATION (MACROPOD HARVEST PERIOD) NOTICE 1998 [reprinted as in force on 7 May 1999] ˙ Short title 1. This notice may be cited as the Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) Notice 1998 . ˙ Commencement 2. This notice commences on 1 January 1999. ˙ Definitions 3. In this notice— “animal food” see Meat Industry Act 1993 , section 4. 1 “human food” see Meat Industry Act 1993 , section 4. ˙ Prescribed size and weight of macropod 4. For this notice, a macropod is— (a) the prescribed size if it has a skin size of at least 0.37 m 2 ; and (b) the prescribed weight if— (i) for a macropod taken for animal food—its carcass weighs at least 13 kg; or 1 Meat Industry Act 1993 , section 4— “animal food” means a substance ordinarily consumed, or intended for consumption, by animals. “human food” means a substance ordinarily consumed, or intended for consumption, by humans.

s5 4 s7 Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) Notice 1998 (ii) for a macropod taken for human food—its carcass weighs at least 15 kg. ˙ Harvest period for certain macropods 5.(1) This section applies to the following macropods— (a) an eastern grey kangaroo ( Macropus giganteus ); (b) a red kangaroo ( Macropus rufus ); (c) a wallaroo ( Macropus robustus ). (2) A harvest period for the macropods starts on 1 January 1999 and ends on 31 December 1999. (3) The harvest period applies only in the areas of the local governments stated for the macropods in the schedule. (4) A macropod taken for its skin only must be the prescribed size. (5) A macropod taken for both its carcass and skin must be the prescribed weight. ˙ Harvest period for whiptail wallaby 6.(1) This section applies to the whiptail wallaby ( Macropus parryi ). (2) A harvest period for the whiptail wallaby starts on 1 January 1999 and ends on 31 December 1999. (3) The harvest period applies only in the areas of the local governments stated for the whiptail wallaby in the schedule. ˙ Repeal 7. The Nature Conservation (Macropod Harvest Period) Notice 1997 is repealed.
