s1 3 s4 Workplace Health and Safety (Advisory Standards) Notice 1998 Workplace Health and Safety (Advisory Standards) Notice 1998 [as amended by all amendments that commenced on or before 2 October 2004] 1 Short title This notice may be cited as the Workplace Health and Safety (Advisory Standards) Notice 1998 . 2 Commencement This notice commences on 1 July 1998. 3 Making advisory standards—sch 1 (1) The documents mentioned in schedule 1 have been made as advisory standards. 1 (2) Each advisory standard commences and expires as mentioned in schedule 1. 4 Amended advisory standards—sch 2 (1) The advisory standards mentioned in schedule 2 are amended. 2 (2) Each amendment takes effect as mentioned in schedule 2. 1 The advisory standards are available on the department’s website at <www.whs.qld.gov.au> or may be purchased from Goprint, 371 Vulture Street, Woolloongabba, 4102. 2 The amended advisory standards are available on the department’s website at <www.whs.qld.gov.au> or may be purchased from Goprint, 371 Vulture Street, Woolloongabba, 4102.

5 Workplace Health and Safety (Advisory Standards) Notice 1998 Schedule 1 Advisory standards section 3 Asbestos Advisory Standard 2004 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 8 March 2004) 4 First Aid Advisory Standard 2004 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 8 March 2004) Formwork Advisory Standard 2004 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 10 September 2004) Hazardous Substances Advisory Standard 2003 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 1 May 2003) Manual Tasks Advisory Standard 2000 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 1 February 2000) 5 Manual Tasks Involving the Handling of People Advisory Standard 2001 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 1 March 2002) 6 Noise Advisory Standard 2004 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 8 March 2004) Plant Advisory Standard 2000 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 1 February 2000) 7 Prevention of Workplace Harassment Advisory Standard 2004 (expires 5 years after its commencement on 1 June 2004) 4 This advisory standard replaces the A-C Sheeting Advisory Standard 1999 and the Asbestos Removal Work Advisory Standard 1999. 5 This advisory standard replaces the Code of Practice for Manual Handling (1991) and the Workplace Health and Safety (Work involving Repetition, Force or Awkward Postures) Advisory Standard 1996, both of which expired on 31 January 2000. 6 This advisory standard replaces, as from 1 March 2002, the Manual Tasks Involving the Handling of People Advisory Standard 2000. 7 This advisory standard replaces the Code of Practice for Plant (1993) which expired on 31 January 2000. The Plant Advisory Standard 2000 includes supplement no. 1 (Concrete pumping), supplement no. 2 (Legionella control in airconditioning units and cooling towers) and supplement no. 3 (Safe design and operation of tractors).

7 Workplace Health and Safety (Advisory Standards) Notice 1998 Schedule 2 Amended advisory standards section 4 Personal Protective Equipment in Building and Construction Work Advisory Standard 1999. The amendment of this standard replaces references to AS 1270:1988 - Acoustics - Hearing protectors with references to AS 1270:1999 - Acoustics - Hearing protectors. The amendment takes effect on 1 February 2003. 10 10 This amendment was previously notified in the Workplace Health and Safety (Advisory Standards) Amendment Notice (No. 1) 2002 (2002 SL No. 8).

The repeal takes effect at the end of 31 August 2002. Falling Objects Advisory Standard 1999. The repeal takes effect at the end of 31 August 2002. Falls from Heights Advisory Standard 2000. The repeal takes effect at the end of 31 August 2002. Work on Roofs Advisory Standard 1999. The repeal takes effect at the end of 31 August 2002. Construction Workplace Amenities Advisory Standard 2000. The repeal takes effect at the end of 25 October 2002. Hazardous Substances Advisory Standard 1998. The repeal takes effect at the end of 30 April 2003. Asbestos Removal Work Advisory Standard 1999. The repeal takes effect at the end of 7 March 2004.
