1998]˙Short title1.This
regulation may be cited as thePlantProtection(PapayaFruitFly) Quarantine
Regulation 1997.˙Definitions2.In this regulation—“pestquarantinearea”meansthepestquarantineareadeclaredundersection 3.“zone”meansazonewithinthepestquarantineareamarked‘A’,‘B’,‘C’,‘D’, ‘E’ or
‘F’ shown on the map of the pest quarantine area in theschedule.1˙Pest quarantine area3.(1)The area
specified in subsection (2) is a declared pest quarantinearea.(2)The pest
quarantine area is the area bounded by an imaginary linedrawn
from—•themosteasternpointofthecoastalwatersoftheStateatlatitude 19° south•then
in a westerly direction to longitude 144° 15' east•then in a northerly direction to the
limits of the coastal waters of1Acopyofthemapmaybeinspectedatthedepartment’sofficesat80AnnStreet,Brisbaneandatlevel2,QueenslandGovernmentOffices,ShieldsStreet,Cairns.

along the limits of the coastal waters of the State back tolatitude 19° south.˙Restrictions on fruit movement4.A person must not without the
inspector’s approval move fruit outof—(a)the pest quarantine area; or(b)a zone to another zone.˙Restriction on selling fruit5.A person must not sell fruit in the
pest quarantine area that—(a)hasavisiblesymptomshowingthatthefruitmaybeinfestedwith the pest
papaya fruit fly; and(b)is infested with
papaya fruit fly.Examples of visible symptoms under paragraph
(a)—•A visible breakdown or rotting of any
part of the fruit.•The visible presence of larvae within
the fruit.˙Repeal6.(1)ThePlantProtection(PapayaFruitFly)QuarantineRegulation(No. 2) 1996 is
repealed.(2)This section expires the day after it
commences.22Thisprovisionhasexpiredandisincludedinthisreprintforinformationalpurposes
only.It will be omitted in the next
reprint.
