etc.(1)This section and schedule 1 declare
the following informationabout each local government mentioned
in schedule 1—(a)its class;(b)its
area and any divisions of the area;(c)the
assignment of councillors to each division;(d)its
composition.1(2)A local
government’s area, and any divisions of the area, areshown
on its area map.(3)Each area map is identified by a map
number marked on themap.1TheLocal Government (Areas) Regulation
1995took effect on 24 March 1995 fordeclaring the areas, name, jurisdiction and
composition of the local governmentsmentioned in it.
The regulation was made under what was then section 760(2)(Declarationoflocalgovernmentareasetc.)oftheAct,whichprovidedforaregulationtobemadeunderwhatwasthensection752declaringeverylocalgovernment and
its area, name, jurisdiction and composition.

(Joint Local Government Areas) Regulation 1995took
effecton 24 March 1995 for declaring the areas,
name, jurisdiction and composition of thejoint local
governments mentioned in it. The regulation was made under what
wasthen section 760(2) (Declaration of local
government areas etc.) of the Act, whichprovided for a
regulation to be made under what was then section 752
declaringevery joint local government and its area,
name, jurisdiction and composition. TheCentral Highlands
Regional Library Service is not included in schedule 2 because
itwas abolished under theLocal Government
Legislation Amendment Regulation (No.1) 1996.3The office of the
Department of Local Government, Planning, Sport and
Recreationis located at 41 George Street,
Brisbane.

control of, thejoint local government.5President(1)The
members of the joint local government are to elect 1 ofthem
as president of the joint local government.(2)An
election for president is to take place at the first meeting
ofthe joint local government held after the
conclusion of eachquadrennialelectionforthecouncillorsofCaloundraCityCouncil and Maroochy Shire Council.(3)Thepresidencyistoalternatebetweenamemberwhoisacouncillor of
Caloundra City Council and a member who is acouncillor of
Maroochy Shire Council.(4)However,
subsection (3) does not apply if at least 5 membersof
