(PAPAW RINGSPOT)QUARANTINE NOTICE 1994[reprinted as in
force on 10 March 19942]˙Short title1.This
notice may be cited as thePlantProtection(PapawRingspot)Quarantine Notice
19943–4.˙Definitions2.In
this notice—“papaw ringspot”means the pest
papaya ringspot virus;“pestquarantinearea”meansthepestquarantineareaforpapawringspot;1“plant”includes a part
of a plant (other than the fruit or seed);“prohibited
plant”means—(a)a
plant of the genusCarica; or(b)a plant of the family
Cucurbitaceae.˙Objects of quarantine (s 11(2) of the
Act)3.The objects of the quarantine
are—(a)to prevent papaw ringspot being
brought into the pest quarantinearea; and(b)topreventpapawringspotbeingspreadinthepestquarantinearea.1The order in council declaring the
pest quarantine area was published in theGazette on 26
June 1991 at page 964.

of quarantine (s 11(2) of the Act)4.(1)A
person must not—(a)bring a prohibited plant into the pest
quarantine area; or(b)have a prohibited plant in the pest
quarantine area; or(c)plant a prohibited plant in the pest
quarantine area.(2)Subsection (1) does not apply to a
prohibited plant brought into thepest quarantine
area with an inspector’s written approval.(3)An
inspector may give an approval under subsection (2) only if
theinspector is satisfied the plant is free of
papaw ringspot.
