regulatory requirements,in appropriate cases; and(d)recognising that non-chemical
treatments may be effective in theprevention of the
spread of cattle tick; and(e)requiringapersontravellingstockoncertainmovementstoobtain a travel permit for the
movement.PART 3—INTERPRETATION5DefinitionsIn this
notice—“adjacent property”, to an infected
property or area, includes—(a)an adjacent
property or area that is a gazetted road, stock route,ordrainageeasementorsimilarreserveoreasementthatisfenced on both sides with a stock
proof fence; and(b)apropertyorareathatisonlyseparatedfromtheinfectedproperty by a gazetted road, stock route, or
drainage easement orsimilar reserve or easement that is unfenced
or fenced on 1 orboth sides with a fence that is not stock
proof.“approved feedlot”means a feedlot
approved by the chief inspector forpart 7B.“approved meatworks”means
meatworks—(a)that—(i)allow
stock to be held for the entire period before slaughteron a
hard standing area that is drained in a way that preventsthe
escape of cattle tick to another stock holding area; and(ii)are approved by the chief inspector;
or(b)that are situated in the infected
area.

(Cattle Tick) Notice 1993“approved person”means a person
approved by the chief inspector.“approved
program”means a program, approved by the chief
inspector,for the eradication or control of cattle
tick.“cattle tick”means the disease
cattle tickBoophilus microplus.“cattle tick free area”see section
46.“cattle tick infected area”see
section 50.“cattle tick provisionally protected
area”see section 49A.“central
Queensland cattle tick protected area”see section
7.“clean inspection”means a manual
inspection of stock by an inspector orapproved person
that satisfies the inspector or approved person that allof
the stock should be free of cattle tick.“directly”,inrelationtotheconveyanceofstock,meanswithoutunloading the
stock on the way to their destination.“eradication
area”means a cattle tick eradication area.“first
removed property”means a property—(a)that
is an adjacent property to an infected property; and(b)on which no cattle tick has been
found.“free area”means the cattle
tick free area.“hard standing area”means an area in
which stock may be contained thatis free from
grass or other pasture.“infected area”means the cattle
tick infected area.“infected property”includes—(a)a property—(i)on
which cattle tick has been found on stock depastured onthe
property; or(ii)that an inspector believes, on
reasonable grounds, is cattletick infected;
and(b)the property of origin of stock that
are found to be infested withcattletickincircumstanceswheretheageofthecattletickinfestation shows, in the chief inspector’s
opinion, that the stockbecame infected on the
property.“low risk meatworks”see section

5B.“manageable, groomed”stock are stock
that—(a)can be led and restrained to the
satisfaction of an inspector orapproved person
for the purposes of examination and treatment;and(b)have been groomed daily for at least 7
days before presentationto an inspector or approved
person.“north west Queensland cattle tick protected
area”see section 19.“preliminary
treatment”,ofstock,meanstreatmentthatshouldensurestock
are free of cattle tick when presented to an inspector or
approvedperson.“protectedarea”meansaprotectedareaforcattletickdeclaredundersection 7, 19 or 31.“provisionally
clean property”means a property that—(a)is
undertaking an approved program involving all stock on theproperty; and(b)has
had—(i)fortheCentralQueenslandCattleTickProtectedAreaorNorthWestQueenslandCattleTickProtectedArea—1 clean
inspection under the program; or(ii)fortheSouthQueenslandCattleTickProtectedArea,aprovisionally protected area or an
eradication area—3 cleaninspections under the program.“provisionally protected area”means
a cattle tick provisionally protectedarea.“second removed property”means a property,
other than a property in aprovisionally protected area or an
eradication area—(a)that is adjacent to a first removed
property, but is not adjacent toan infected
property; and(b)on which no cattle tick has been
found.“south Queensland cattle tick protected
area”see section 31.“State”includes territory.“stock”means
cattle, deer, sheep, goats, horses, camels, buffalo, llamas,alpacas, vicunas and guanacos.

stock.“supervised”means supervised
by an inspector or approved person.“treatment”, in
relation to stock, includes plunge dipping, spraying andother
treatment (including non-chemical treatment) of all stock in
aconsignment to the satisfaction of an
inspector or approved person.“veterinary
surgeon”means a veterinary surgeon within the
meaning oftheVeterinary Surgeons Act 1936.“visuallycleaninspection”isavisualinspectionofallstockinaconsignmentbyaninspectororapprovedpersonduringwhichnocattle tick are sighted by the
inspector or approved person.5AMeaning of “low risk meatworks”A
meatworks is a“low risk meatworks”if—(a)the chief inspector is satisfied there
is a very low risk of cattletick escaping
from the meatworks to another stock holding area;and(b)the meatworks is
included in a list of low risk meatworks held inthe
department.5BMeaning of “low risk saleyard”A
saleyard is a“low risk saleyard”if—(a)the chief inspector is satisfied there
is a very low risk of cattletickescapingfromthesaleyardtoanotherstockholdingarea;and(b)the saleyard is
included in a list of low risk saleyards held in thedepartment.

protected area; or(c)for manageable, groomed horses—(i)are conveyed directly to and from a

returned to the infected area within 5 days of enteringthe

visually clean inspection and plunge dipping; or(ii)a clean inspection; or(b)are cattle that—(i)have
undergone the clean inspection; and(ii)are
to be conveyed directly to Harristown Saleyards; or(c)comefrompremisesoraholdingconsideredbythechiefinspector to be free of cattle tick and are
to be conveyed directlyto their destination; or(d)aremanageable,groomedstockthathaveundergonethecleaninspectionandaretobeconveyeddirectlytoandfromshowgrounds,oranotherplacewhereascheduledcompetitionevent is to take
place, approved by the chief inspector; or

meetings; or(ea)for manageable, groomed horses—(i)are conveyed directly to and from a

protected area; or(f)are horses that—(i)aremaintainedfreeofcattletickbyregulartreatmentsapproved by the chief inspector; and(ii)are to be conveyed directly to and
from holdings approvedby the chief inspector; or(g)are manageable, groomed horses
that—(i)have undergone the clean inspection;
and(ii)are to be conveyed directly to the
infected area by passingthrough the protected area; or(h)are injured horses that—(i)have undergone the clean inspection;
and(ii)are to be conveyed to a veterinary
clinic for treatment; or(i)are manageable,
groomed horses that—(i)have undergone a clean inspection;
and(ii)a veterinary surgeon certifies, in
writing, react adversely tochemical treatment.(2)Ifhorsesmentionedinsubsection(1)(h)arenotreturnedtotheinfected area
within 3 clear days after they are introduced into the
protectedarea, the horses must undergo a supervised
treatment.(3)Horsesmentionedinsubsection(1)(i)mustbereturnedtotheinfected area
within 3 clear days after they are introduced into the
protectedarea.(4)If a veterinary
surgeon certifies, by written notice to an inspector,thatahorsementionedinsubsection(2)reactsadverselytochemicaltreatment,thehorsemustundergoacleaninspectioninsteadofthesupervised treatment.

area to the Taroom clearingdipwithoutundergoingtheinspectionandtreatmentmentionedinsection 334if
the stock—(a)are conveyed directly through a
protected area to the dip; and(b)use
only a prescribed road to gain access to the dip; and(c)undergo a clean inspection and
treatment at the dip.(2)In this
section—“prescribed road”means—(a)the Theodore to Taroom section of the
Leichhardt Highway; or(b)Cracow to Taroom
Road; or(c)Fitzroy Development Road; or(d)Flagstaff Road; or(e)Broadmere Road.35B Conditional

moved from the infected area to the Auburn clearing dipwithout undergoing the inspection and
