Regulation1989CHICKEN MEAT INDUSTRY COMMITTEEREGULATION 1989[as amended by
all amendments that commenced on or before 30 January 1996]˙Short title1.This
regulation may be cited as theChicken Meat
Industry CommitteeRegulation 1989.˙Commencement2.This
regulation shall come into operation on 1 July 1989.˙General levy5.(1)Growers and processors shall pay a general
levy for each broilerchickenwhichundergoesprocessing,attherateofone-tenthof1c,orsubject to the approval of the Minister, at
such lesser rate as the committeemay from time to
time determine having regard to the funds available andthepurposesforwhichthosefundsaretobeutilised,whereuponthecommittee shall notify each processor of the
rate and the date of operationof such rate so
determined.(2)Each grower shall pay one-half of such
levy on the broiler chickensgrown by the
grower and each processor shall pay one-half of such levy onthe
broiler chickens processed by the processor.(3)Each
processor shall deduct the amount payable by a grower
towardssuchlevyfromtheproceedsofsaleofthebroilerchickenswhichhaveundergone processing on behalf of that
grower.˙Returns6.(1)Each
processor shall forward to the committee a completed returninform1forthehalf-yearlyperiodsendingonthe31Decemberand30 June in every year.

Regulation1989(2)Eachprocessorshallforwardsuchcompletedreturnsoastobereceived by the committee at its head
office in Brisbane in the State not laterthan 1 month
after the expiration of the respective half-yearly period.(3)Each processor shall forward to the
committee with each return theamount of levy
payable in respect of such return.˙Recovery of levies7.Levies payable to the committee and not paid
may be recovered byaction in a court of competent jurisdiction
as for a debt due and owing to aperson in whose
name the action is brought upon the plaint of the secretaryof
the committee or of a person authorised by the
committee.
