Future amendment annotations
From July 2025, OQPC will gradually start incorporating
annotations for future amendments into reprints. A future or
uncommenced amendment is an amendment to an existing law made by a
new law that has been enacted but has not yet commenced. These
future amendment annotations will appear against provisions with
future amendments in the same way that normal amendment annotations
do. To set them apart, they will be italicised and will include the
words "(uncommenced amendment)". This will indicate that, at some
stage in the future, an amendment will be made to that provision.
As always, amendments will not be incorporated in the text of a law
until after they commence, but these future amendment annotations
will alert users to upcoming changes and will provide convenient
links for you to see what will happen once that amendment
commences.
Reprints that include future amendment annotations will have a note
on the status information page and the cover page of the PDF, under
the heading Amendments not yet in force. These
notes will alert users to the presence of future amendment
annotations and provide general information about them. The notes
will also advise when the future amendment annotations were added
to the reprint.
Please note that the addition of future amendment annotations will
be a gradual process. Please continue to check the legislative
history of reprints, particularly the List of
Legislation, to determine what future amendments may be
awaiting commencement for any particular reprint.
