About Queensland legislation

This website currently gives users online access to the following Queensland legislation (Acts of the Queensland Parliament and subordinate legislation made under them), other legislative documents (explanatory notes and regulatory impact statements) and related information:

Authorisation by the Parliamentary Counsel

Legislation
Documents on this website are now authorised by the Parliamentary Counsel as follows:

The authority statement ‘Authorised by the Parliamentary Counsel’ appears under the copyright statement at the end of the document. Under the Evidence Act 1977 (Qld), a document purporting to be so authorised is taken to be a correct copy until the contrary is proved.

OQPC will progressively authorise historical versions of reprints and pre-2013 legislation on the website. Unauthorised historical versions of reprints have a note on the front cover: ‘Warning—This reprint is not an authorised copy’.

Legislative documents
Explanatory notes and regulatory impact statements available on this website are authorised by the Parliamentary Counsel. Individual documents do not, however, carry an authority statement. Under the Evidence Act 1977 (Qld), a document purporting to be so authorised can be admitted as evidence.

Information about reprints

From 1 July 2002 OQPC has produced and published reprints to incorporate all changes to legislation, producing a separate reprint for each day of change.

Current reprints are now identified by the date of change and this date appears on the front cover page.
Historical versions of reprints were mostly numbered and dated in a different way:

More information about reprint numbers and dates can be found on the ‘Information about this reprint’ page for reprints produced before 29 January 2013.

Revised edition reprints are reprints in which a correction has been made or retrospective amendments have been incorporated. The words ‘revised edition’ appear on the front cover after the date of the reprint. From 1 March 2013 explanatory information about the revised reprint also appears on the front cover.

Is the current reprint up to date?
OQPC aims to have reprints available on the website within 5 days of a change or new principal legislation coming into operation. Most are actually available on the day of change. For step-by-step instructions to check for any changes not yet incorporated, click here.

Queensland Legislation Annotations

The Current Queensland Legislation Annotations and its updates comprise the major legislative information publication produced by OQPC. It is the standard historical research tool for all users of legislation and also informs users about future changes to legislation.

The publication contains comprehensive information about all current Queensland Acts and subordinate legislation. The following information about Queensland legislation is included:

The weekly update includes information about the changes to Queensland legislation that happen each week. This includes information about reprints produced that week.

The cumulative update is a compact reference tool containing recent information about legislation and includes the same information as the current annotations. New information is incorporated every week for 6 months. Each issue mentions the period covered. The information is then incorporated into the current annotations and a new cumulative update begun for the next 6-month period.

The Repealed Queensland Legislation Annotations contains historical information about repealed legislation.
