				<block>
					<txt break.before="1">WHEREAS, a Bill intituled The Constitution Act Amendment Bill of 1921 was, during the session of the Parliament holden in the year 1921, passed by the legislature, and which Bill was, pursuant to the provisions of the <legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" check="invalid">
							<name emphasis="yes">Australian States Constitution Act 1907</name>
						</legref> reserved for the signification of His Majesty’s pleasure.</txt>
				</block>
				<block>
					<txt break.before="1">And whereas the assent of His Majesty (whom God may long preserve!) to the said Bill was proclaimed on the 12th year of His Majesty’s reign on 23 March 1922, and on the Bill becoming an Act by virtue of such assent, such Act was intituled the <legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" target.doc.id="act-1922-032" target.version.series="38ffbac2-3adf-4669-afdd-f29c104b93f7" check="valid">
							<name emphasis="yes">Constitution Act Amendment Act 1922</name>
						</legref>, and was numbered No. 32 of such 12th year of His Majesty’s reign, and which Act is and forms part of the Constitution of Queensland.</txt>
				</block>
				<block>
					<txt break.before="1">And whereas, pursuant to such Act, the Legislative Council was abolished.</txt>
				</block>
				<block>
					<txt break.before="1">And whereas the Parliament of Queensland (or, as sometimes called, the Legislature of Queensland), has since the year 1922 been constituted by His Majesty the King and the Legislative Assembly in Parliament assembled, and is so presently constituted.</txt>
				</block>
				<block>
					<txt break.before="1">And whereas it is desirable that no other legislative body (whether called the ‘Legislative Council,’ or by any other name or designation, in addition to the Legislative Assembly) should be restored, or constituted, or established, except subject to the provisions hereinafter set forth.</txt>
				</block>
				<block>
					<txt break.before="1">And whereas, pursuant to an Act of the Parliament called the <legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" target.doc.id="act-1890-003" target.version.series="d32bcd1e-3e61-4e84-815b-472792c7bf59" check="valid">
							<name emphasis="yes">Constitution Act Amendment Act 1890</name>
						</legref> (which was passed in the 54th year of the reign of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria and numbered No. 3), it is provided that every Legislative Assembly hereafter (i.e., after 29 September 1890—being the date of the assent of such Act), to be summoned and chosen shall continue for 3 years from the day appointed for the return of the writs for choosing the same, and no longer (subject, nevertheless, to be sooner dissolved by the Governor), and which Act is and forms part of the Constitution of Queensland.</txt>

					<txt break.before="1">And whereas it is also desirable that the provisions of the <legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" target.doc.id="act-1890-003" target.version.series="d32bcd1e-3e61-4e84-815b-472792c7bf59" check="valid">
							<name emphasis="yes">Constitution Act Amendment Act 1890</name>
						</legref>, hereinbefore referred to, or any other Act or law of the Constitution, shall not be amended in the direction of extending the said period of time—namely, 3 years—for the duration of the present Legislative Assembly or any Legislative Assembly to be hereafter summoned and chosen, except subject to the provisions hereinafter set forth.</txt>

				<heading id="sec.1-he" guid="_92a46d9f-2ab9-4d13-b72a-40238b7172be">Short title and construction</heading>
				<block>
					<txt break.before="1">This Act may be cited as the <legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" target.doc.id="act-1934-035" target.version.series="564d22c7-f4fb-48e7-b2fd-fe2c57fc672f" check="valid">
							<name emphasis="yes">Constitution Act Amendment Act 1934</name>
						</legref>, and shall be read and construed with and as an amendment of the Constitution of Queensland.</txt>
				</block>
			</clause>
			<clause id="sec.2" guid="_a8db4922-b708-436f-9984-0b07383a2af7" affected.by.uncommenced="0" spent.amends="0" provision.type="other">
				<no>2</no>
				<heading id="sec.2-he" guid="_0a315d0c-304f-4c7b-a3fb-2126cbfccb51">Interpretation—Constitution of Queensland</heading>

					<txt break.before="1">In this Act—</txt>

								<defterm id="sec.2-def.ConstitutionofQueensland" guid="_396b4bed-c8c4-4901-beab-3c7fc8d6b637" type="definition">Constitution of Queensland</defterm> means and includes the order in council of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria dated 6 June 1859, referred to in the preamble to the <legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" target.doc.id="act-1867-038" target.version.series="a7196f1f-3a82-49dc-b9fa-0c04d0a4baaf" check="valid">
									<name emphasis="yes">Constitution Act 1867</name>
								</legref> and the <legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" target.doc.id="act-1867-038" target.version.series="a7196f1f-3a82-49dc-b9fa-0c04d0a4baaf" check="valid">
									<name emphasis="yes">Constitution Act 1867</name>
								</legref>, and each and every Act amending, altering, or repealing or purporting to amend, alter, or repeal any of the provisions of the abovementioned order
in council and Act, or either of them.</txt>

			</clause>

				<no>3</no>
				<heading id="sec.3-he" guid="_41450c66-c645-4502-8d7c-9bd70a9c5ff3">Parliament not to be altered in the direction of re-establishing the Legislative Council or other body except in accordance with this section</heading>
				<subclause id="sec.3-ssec.1" guid="_5eec8a2a-3243-42ca-adac-16133bc885f2" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(1)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">The Parliament of Queensland (or, as sometimes called, the Legislature of Queensland), constituted by His Majesty the King and the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled shall not be altered in the direction of providing for the restoration and/or constitution and/or establishment of another legislative body (whether called the <defterm guid="_a2ebfe94-2f0d-45cd-b1ef-1df43fd253e5" type="mention">Legislative Council</defterm>, or by any other name or designation, in addition to the Legislative Assembly) except in the manner provided in this section.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
				<subclause id="sec.3-ssec.2" guid="_6468d3d0-e47d-434b-9b8b-9a3a410dee87" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(2)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">A Bill for any purpose within subsection one of this section shall not be presented to the Governor for the reservation thereof for the signification of His Majesty’s pleasure, or for the Governor’s Assent, or be in any other way assented to, until the Bill has been approved by the electors in accordance with this section.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
				<subclause id="sec.3-ssec.3" guid="_f6f1615a-81e4-4769-b92e-095b859b8422" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(3)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">On a day not sooner than two months after the passage of the Bill through the Legislative Assembly, the question for the approval or otherwise of the Bill shall be submitted to the electors qualified to vote for the election of members of the Legislative Assembly according to the provisions of “<legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" check="invalid">
								<name emphasis="yes">The Elections Acts</name>
								<name emphasis="no">, 1915</name>
								<name emphasis="yes"> to</name>
								<name emphasis="no"> 1932</name>
							</legref>,” or any Act amending the same or in substitution therefor.</txt>
					</block>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">Such day shall be appointed by the Governor in Council.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
				<subclause id="sec.3-ssec.4" guid="_179586cc-48fc-4435-9bfe-9b88852ac89e" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(4)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">When the Bill is submitted to the electors the vote shall be taken in such manner as the Legislature prescribes.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
				<subclause id="sec.3-ssec.5" guid="_9e3aef0f-2d63-4085-ba40-88a325650775" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(5)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">If a majority of the electors voting approve the Bill, it shall be presented to the Governor for the reservation thereof for the signification of His Majesty’s pleasure.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
				<subclause id="sec.3-ssec.6" guid="_64f878b5-e6b2-461d-b353-65dd8420cf90" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(6)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">The provisions of this section shall extend to any Bill for the repeal or amendment of this section.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
			</clause>
			<clause id="sec.4" guid="_83a4df01-bba5-4ed3-888b-0e023e25e3bb" affected.by.uncommenced="0" spent.amends="0" provision.type="other">
				<no>4</no>
				<heading id="sec.4-he" guid="_91965a9c-3389-41e3-8d1f-6a8c19a1246d">Duration of Legislative Assembly not to be extended except in accordance with this section</heading>
				<subclause id="sec.4-ssec.1" guid="_3df0633d-4ea2-4604-b39b-41507d0850d9" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(1)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">The provisions of section two of “<legref jurisd="QLD" type="act" check="invalid">
								<name emphasis="yes">The Constitution Act Amendment Act of 1890</name>
							</legref>” (referred to in the preamble to this Act) shall not be amended in the direction of extending the period of three years, which, as provided by the said section two, is the period for which any Legislative Assembly, now or hereafter summoned and chosen, shall continue from the day appointed for the return of the writs for choosing the same and no longer (subject, nevertheless, to be sooner dissolved by the Governor), nor shall any other Act or law relating to the Constitution be passed extending such period of three years as aforesaid, except in the manner provided by this section.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
				<subclause id="sec.4-ssec.2" guid="_aaffc127-1039-4f75-a2f8-9ee0ef4f6e6e" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(2)</no>
					<block>
						<txt break.before="1">A Bill for any purpose within <intref refid="sec.4-ssec.1" target.guid="_3df0633d-4ea2-4604-b39b-41507d0850d9" check="valid">subsection&#160;(1)</intref> of this section shall not be presented to the Governor for the reservation thereof for the signification of His Majesty’s pleasure, or for the Governor’s Assent, or be in any other way assented to, until the Bill has been approved by the electors in accordance with this section.</txt>
					</block>
				</subclause>
				<subclause id="sec.4-ssec.3" guid="_94b87588-c25d-46f8-b416-3b7a279f395e" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other">
					<no>(3)</no>
					<block>
