liquid damped compass and a navigation chart appropriate to the operational area.</txt></block></clause><clause id="sec.8" guid="_714759c2-f8a2-4a43-be74-2a7e656457a5" affected.by.uncommenced="0" guid="_3264d9d3-348a-4bb4-8c4d-4d596d75cad3" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other"><no>(1)</no><block><txt break.before="0">A Queensland regulated ship should be equipped with—</txt><list number.type="manual" unnumbered.indent="0"><li id="sec.8-ssec.1-para1.a" guid="_3f388f5d-d7ab-424d-b445-d3efe25040f4" provision.type="other"><no>(a)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship less than 5m operating in smooth waters—an anchor with at least 18m of cable; or</txt></block></li><li id="sec.8-ssec.1-para1.b" guid="_61209bcf-ad35-4074-8e32-a032d8e8ac7d" provision.type="other"><no>(b)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship less than 5m operating in or beyond partially smooth waters—an anchor with at least 27m of cable; or</txt></block></li><li id="sec.8-ssec.1-para1.c" guid="_febe1a43-3a48-48f5-8cad-94ee51fe85e3" provision.type="other"><no>(c)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship 5m or more but less than 8m operating in any be equipped with—</txt><list number.type="manual" unnumbered.indent="0"><li id="sec.9-para1.a" guid="_02dcb702-4bea-4a03-a7c7-c0711c8dc8f2" provision.type="other"><no>(a)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship less than 5m—bailing equipment appropriate for the type of ship; or</txt></block></li><li id="sec.9-para1.b" guid="_448bd0c7-c87b-478f-a87c-751fa73137ce" provision.type="other"><no>(b)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship 5m or more but less than 8m—a pump or other bailing equipment with a minimum capacity of 45L/min; or</txt></block></li><li id="sec.9-para1.c" guid="_e1fe1aaa-cce3-4f5b-ba05-a5f6ee9bb956" provision.type="other"><no>(c)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship 8m or more—a pump or other bailing equipment with a minimum guid="_dad3b908-ba93-43f4-9751-628355406d26" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other"><no>(1)</no><block><txt break.before="0">A Queensland regulated ship less than 6m should be equipped with a way of manually propelling the ship.</txt><note id="sec.10-ssec.1-note" guid="_7f4802db-c1b7-42fd-a126-cfd97dbeae68" type="example"><heading id="sec.10-ssec.1-note-he" guid="_3a7772bd-2453-4a91-a333-8521bfa35613">Examples—</heading><block><txt break.before="1">oars, paddles</txt></block></note></block></subclause><subclause id="sec.10-ssec.2" guid="_c391dfdc-32aa-4219-9949-a2b852082149" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other"><no>(2)</no><block><txt break.before="0">However, subsection (1) does not apply if the ship is equipped with an auxiliary way of propulsion, whether mechanical or otherwise.</txt><note id="sec.10-ssec.2-note" guid="_f44a95af-8328-4546-a6d6-9c45fe08e85a" type="example"><heading id="sec.10-ssec.2-note-he" guid="_1c686028-9fab-42b0-9ae5-171652ae5bb7">Examples of an auxiliary way of propulsion—</heading><block><txt break.before="1">additional motor, sails</txt></block></note></block></subclause></clause><clause id="sec.11" guid="_b3c33f10-b9bd-4513-9fae-9ee4dd9d41fe" affected.by.uncommenced="0" spent.amends="0" provision.type="other"><no>11</no><heading id="sec.11-he" guid="_96adaa19-4ebb-4180-ada6-6acd9aba68f5">Drinking water</heading><block><txt break.before="1">A Queensland regulated ship should be guid="_2647cfba-7554-403a-a8a2-6f9d7a3554a0">Application of division</heading><block><txt break.before="1">This division applies to a Queensland regulated ship that is a personal watercraft when operating in or beyond partially smooth waters, other than a personal watercraft operating—</txt><list number.type="manual" unnumbered.indent="0"><li id="sec.13-para1.a" guid="_c65f6106-235f-4f97-b28d-9cd732e2a2ff" provision.type="other"><no>(a)</no><block><txt break.before="0">as part of an aquatic event held in accordance with an aquatic event authority; or</txt></block></li><li id="sec.13-para1.b" guid="_64084418-85e6-4eaa-a452-a743b0d50e32" provision.type="other"><no>(b)</no><block><txt break.before="0">beyond partially smooth waters and within 0.5n provision.type="other"><no>19</no><heading id="sec.19-he" guid="_10111203-52ee-4217-8def-d3c4a4c1ac1f">Safety equipment in smooth waters</heading><subclause id="sec.19-ssec.1" guid="_2635a2e0-7481-4325-acb8-c0930d6a3c12" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other"><no>(1)</no><block><txt break.before="0">A Queensland regulated ship operating in smooth waters should be equipped with—</txt><list number.type="manual" unnumbered.indent="0"><li id="sec.19-ssec.1-para1.a" guid="_f2e84211-d338-4546-af87-97ecf8a11e38" provision.type="other"><no>(a)</no><block><txt break.before="0">a required lifejacket for each individual on board who is 1 year or more; and</txt></block></li><li id="sec.19-ssec.1-para1.b" guid="_be668a63-dee0-4882-b24c-35e4c91034ee" provision.type="other"><no>(b)</no><block><txt break.before="0">if the ship is more than 5m—firefighting equipment capable of extinguishing a fire on the ship quickly and effectively.</txt></block></li></list></block></subclause><subclause id="sec.19-ssec.2" guid="_1e45a4c6-0c06-4cec-ae16-4fe7b7396e5d" affected.by.uncommenced="0" provision.type="other"><no>(2)</no><block><txt break.before="0">However, <intref refid="sec.23-def.requiredlifejacket-oc.2" target.guid="_e0b0c1c9-d423-4942-8610-79d794b8429e" check="valid">subsection&#160;(1)</intref><intref refid="sec.23-def.requiredlifejacket-oc.2" target.guid="_e0b0c1c9-d423-4942-8610-79d794b8429e" check="valid">(a)</intref> does not apply if—</txt><list number.type="manual" unnumbered.indent="0"><li id="sec.19-ssec.2-para1.a" guid="_b984745e-e7c7-4123-846f-51fadc1fea14" provision.type="other"><no>(a)</no><block><txt break.before="0">the ship operates in a river, creek, stream or waters contained within breakwaters or revetments; and</txt></block></li><li id="sec.19-ssec.2-para1.b" guid="_8395f76d-61ec-4d8f-9e9e-1c289605cf46" provision.type="other"><no>(b)</no><block><txt break.before="0">the ship is equipped with grab lines, grab rails or other permanent means of giving each person on board a way of keeping a secure hold to the ship; and</txt></block></li><li id="sec.19-ssec.2-para1.c" guid="_9615c00c-28e3-4c0e-9de2-c27bc3a0f969" provision.type="other"><no>(c)</no><block><txt break.before="0">there is a statement in the approved form for the ship that the ship has level guid="_e0b0c1c9-d423-4942-8610-79d794b8429e" type="definition">required lifejacket</defterm> for an individual on board a ship is a lifejacket of an appropriate size for the individual of the following type—</txt><list number.type="manual" unnumbered.indent="0"><li id="sec.23-ssec.1-para1.a" guid="_ceb72655-4006-4ff1-a8b3-bf4c25003502" provision.type="other"><no>(a)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship, other than a personal watercraft, operating in smooth waters—a lifejacket level 100, 50 or 50S or a compliant inflatable diver’s jacket;</txt></block></li><li id="sec.23-ssec.1-para1.b" guid="_b372309c-81b5-47e0-b1a8-bbb8c06bb7a8" provision.type="other"><no>(b)</no><block><txt break.before="0">for a ship, other than a personal watercraft, operating in or
