Privacy and Security

The Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel (OQPC) is committed to protecting user privacy and has in place a privacy plan (PDF). We understand and appreciate that visitors and users of this web site are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information that may be provided to us.

The Queensland Government has established a privacy scheme for the Queensland public sector based on 11 Information Privacy Principles. These are contained in Information Standard 42 that agencies are required to adhere to.



Cookies

A cookie is an information collection tool that allows web sites to store information about users to customise their access to the site. Cookies can only store information that is provided by the user in the first place, or information the web site already has about the user. This is a cookie-free site. When you look at this web site our server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only—your server address, the top level domain name, the date and time of your visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited, and the type of browser you used.

We use the statistical information gathered to improve our web site’s relevance and value. No attempt is or will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs.



Emails, mailing list and feedback information

This site contains a mailing list service which enables us to notify mailing list subscribers of any updates to the legislation on this site. Subscribers to the list send OQPC an email requesting that they be added to this list. No other information about the user is kept and this information is used only for the purpose for which it was provided. We will not disclose your name and email address to third parties without your consent unless required by law.

Email messages may be monitored by the office’s Information Technology area for system troubleshooting and maintenance purposes. Please note that for statistical and research purposes only, the office collates and keeps a record of all email enquiries sent to the office through legislation.queries@oqpc.qld.gov.au and webmaster@oqpc.qld.gov.au. This information is handled in accordance with the principles mentioned in the office's privacy plan.
